The Byron Bay Story!

So here we are. I don't even know where to start! Oh yes! "It was supposed to be a lovely escapade to Byron Bay..." Well, I can't exactly say so.

When talking to friends and colleagues, they all loved Byron Bay and of course "you will love it!".
I wish I did but, really, I didn't! I will try to keep the story short :)

The weather forecast was bad. We knew it from the beginning. But what the hell, we went anyway!
We noticed very quickly that Byron Bay is expensive, a 30 mins taxi ride from Ballina Airport to town is $100! Anyway, we eventually got there. Checked in quickly into our lovely B&B Barbara's (that I highly recommend) and went for Brunch, delicious (check out Twisted Sista)! The weather changed very quickly. It became very dark, wet and windy within seconds. Not much choices than spending the first two days and nights between pubs and restaurants. That's all we did!

It got worse. So bad that we had to spend a full day indoors looking out the window wishing for a bit sun (and stay alive!). How sad... HA! We heard about the Cyclone Oswald and the damage it left behind. Trees broken, floods, flight cancellations, airports closing, power cut etc... From that moment, I knew we were not getting home the day after. As predicted, our flight got cancelled. I won't bother you with all the details, but after a very short and useless bus ride,an additional night in Byron, $800 and a very delayed last flight... We  managed to go back home. Note: That very same last day the weather was absolutely gorgeous - nice way to send us off!

Overall, Byron Bay was OK. A cute little town. Lovely and very relaxed people. Great local pubs, cafés and restaurants (if you need recommendations, let me know). Maybe a bit too expensive for a small town.
A big thank you to Rick from Barbara's B&B who kindly opened us his doors at 1 O'clock in the morning! Sorry for the long post, but I really cut the details down! I don't have many photos, I was not in the  mood for snapping as you can imagine!
